Flex is pictured above placing 4th in the Veteran Dog Sweepstakes at the 2003 DPCA National.  He was just 2 weeks shy of 8 years in this picture, and 9 1/2 years in the candid photo to the right.

Flex was my soul dog since he came into my house at 8 weeks of age.  He taught me what it meant to own a male Doberman, how to show and what it took to special a special dog as well as the trials and tribulations of obedience with an intact male.  Most of all, he taught me what it was like to know that a dog would lay down his life for me.  Flex was the most perceptive, intelligent dog I have owned.

Due to various reasons, Flex was never bred.  In some respects it is a shame, as he had so many qualities that are desirable in the breed, including his rock hard top line and outstanding side gait, until the day he went to Heaven.  However, not all dogs or all pedigrees are meant to reproduce, and Flex was one of these cases.

Flex was my buddy dog, following me around the yard daily, fetching grapefruits and being tempted by the fish jumping in the canal.  His spark and zest for life was unflinching. I miss him terribly.
