On October 3, 2007, we said good bye to this wonderful dog. Her body was taken over by an enormous cancerous tumor, which likely spawned from a malignancy in an ovary, which had been detected when she was spayed 18 months earlier. We attempted surgery, and we thought we were in the clear, but Elite's body wasn't quite strong enough to make a full recovery. She had the best veterinary care available. I sat with her for hours, cried, put my head on her, massaged her, and talked so sweetly to her, just begging her to live, but it wasn't meant to be. She was the best dog I could have ever wished for: trustworthy with and loving of all children, protective of her home and her people, smart as a whip, and so very, very loyal. There will never be another one like her - nor should there be.
Elite was a wonderful
mother, producing two litters of healthy outgoing puppies with
fantastic temperaments. Her puppies are training in
obedience, agility, conformation and therapy work.
